Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza Faces Vehicular Manslaughter Charges
SANTA ANA, Calif. (March 7, 2024) – Jennifer Patricia Lopez De Catalan, 38, of Lakewood, died in a solo-vehicle crash on Seal Beach Boulevard, but now the driver of the car faces manslaughter and DUI charges.
The vehicle had been traveling southbound on Seal Beach Boulevard, just south of North Gate Road when the crash occurred.
The Lakewood woman was riding as a passenger in the car driven by Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza when he crashed into a pole at around 2 a.m. on Monday, March 4th, according to MyNewsLA.
The vehicle overturned and the passenger was ejected and died at the scene, police said.
Meanwhile, the 39-year-old man driving the car was charged with three felonies: Gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content exceeding the legal limit of .08% causing injury.
The driver also is facing sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury.
Investigators are working on the case.
