Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Chester Avenue is ID’d
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (March 28, 2023) – Jesus Alberto Nelson Jr., 37, of Bakersfield, died in a pedestrian accident on South Chester Avenue near M Street in Bakersfield.
The traffic accident happened about 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23rd, according to The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire.
The Bakersfield man was walking east on southbound Chester Avenue, just south M Street, in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said car struck him due to unknown circumstances. Firefighters and paramedics responded and located the injured man in the roadway.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Chester Avenue
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Jesus Nelson Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police reported the driver failed to stop and provide help to the victim. The motorist fled south on Chester Avenue. The vehicle is described as a dark gray Mazda.
Officers closed down the southbound lanes of Chester Avenue near M Street for two hours to conduct an investigation. The cause of the fatal Bakersfield pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
