Double Fatal Car Accident on Grand Avenue
West Covina, CA (December 15, 2022) – Jordan Gomez, and a woman both died following a suspected DUI collision that occurred on Grand Avenue on December 3, Saturday.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune News reported Gomez and a 24-year-old female were passengers in an Acura RSX traveling at a high rate of speed on Grand Avenue. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver, 26-year-old Michael Maya, veered off the roadway due to alleged intoxication. According to the article published online, the Acura crashed into multiple parked vehicles along Grand near Virginia Avenue.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found a woman unconscious in the back seat of the Acura. Meanwhile, the man sitting in the front-passenger seat reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel rushed the victim to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he later died. The coroner’s office identified the male passenger killed in the crash as Jordan Gomez.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Crash in West Covina
The California Highway Patrol group said the driver was drunk when the catastrophic incident happened. Given that, police arrested Michael Maya on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
