Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5
San Diego, CA (January 1, 2022) – Jose Raul Avila, a 60-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Interstate 5 on December 12.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the male party was walking in the southbound side of the freeway. In the area near San Diego-Coronado Bridge, an oncoming vehicle failed to avoid and hit the pedestrian. The horrible crash took place at about 5:22 p.m.
Responding emergency crews found the victim lying on the ground. Despite life-saving measures, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Jose Raul Avila. Officials believed the man was homeless.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the driver involved in the catastrophic incident stayed at the scene. Investigators continue to work at this time to determine liabilities in the deadly pedestrian accident on Interstate 5 in San Diego.
