Jose Carranza, 54; and Milagro Nieto-Campos, 59, Killed in Colton Crash
COLTON, CA (February 5, 2022) – A DUI crash killed Jose Carranza and Milagro Nieto-Campos on the 10 Freeway in Colton.
The coroner’s office identified the Pacoima residents as victims of the fatal wreck which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Jose Carranza, 54, was driving a Nissan Sentra with Milagro Nieto-Campos, 59, as his passenger in Colton.
For an unknown reason, their car stopped on the shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway. A Toyota Camry traveling in the same direction came and then merged to the right.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the Toyota hit the Nissan. The Sentra rolled over as a result of the collision and plunged down the embankment.
Jose Carranza and Milagro Nieto-Campos died at the scene of the crash. The Daily Bulletin wrote that the accident occurred at around 2 a.m., just east of Pepper Avenue.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the female driver of the Camry was under the influence of alcohol when she struck the victims. They soon arrested her for DUI.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to shut down for hours following the wreck. The Colton crash is still under investigation.
