Fatal Head-On Collision Near Richards Boulevard
Davis, CA (September 28, 2022) – Joseph Escajeda, a 30-year-old man, died following a traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 80 Freeway.
The Argus Courier News reported Escajeda was behind the wheel of a Hyundai sedan traveling west on I-80 in Davis. When the car approached the area near Richards Boulevard, a wrong-way vehicle veered into the path of the Hyundai. Officials said the Hyundai sedan crashed head-on into an eastbound Infiniti sedan.
Shortly after 3:10 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. After the evaluation, authorities confirmed three people sadly died in the crash. Authorities identified the driver of the Hyundai killed in the accident as Joseph Escajeda, of Petaluma.
Several factors surrounding the crash remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the unfortunate event that happened on Interstate 80 in Davis.
