Deadly Traffic Collision Near Elm Avenue
Orangevale, CA (June 1, 2022) – Joseph Angel Mendoza, a 26-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a car accident that occurred on Hazel Avenue Tuesday evening.
The Sacramento Bee News reported two vehicles collided in the area near Elm Avenue in Orangevale. Preliminary investigation revealed Mendoza was driving a 2018 Honda heading south on Hazel. When Mendoza approached the area near Orangevale Community Center, his Honda crashed into a 2006 Lexus stopped in a left turn lane on northbound Hazel Avenue.
The force from the impact caused the Honda to veer off the roadway. Officials said the car came to a rest after slamming against a power pole and a metal fence.
Fatal Car Accident on Hazel Avenue in Orangevale
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the driver of the Honda lifeless. Medical personnel later confirmed the man died at the from injuries sustained in the crash. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the deceased as Joseph Angel Mendoza, of Orangevale.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Lexus reportedly sustained major trauma as a result of the incident. An ambulance transported the woman to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Detectives stayed at the crash site the whole evening. They continue to investigate the exact cause of the deadly collision on Hazel Avenue in Orangevale.
