E-Bike Rider Dies in Collision at Avenida La Pata and Avenida Pico
San Clemente, CA (June 8, 2022) – Joshua Gene Cervantes, a 40-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Avenida La Pata and Avenida Pico.
The Orange County Register News reported Cervantes was riding an electric bicycle traveling in the streets of San Clemente Tuesday morning. When the cyclist drove through the intersection of Avenida La Pata and Avenida Pico, it collided with a passenger vehicle.
Officials said the horrible crash took place Tuesday at about 1:25 a.m.
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found pieces of the electric bicycle scatted across the roadway. Responding medical personnel rendered aid to the rider. Despite life-saving measures, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Orange County sheriff’s officials identified the fatal victim as Joshua Gene Cervantes of Capistrano Beach.
Meanwhile, the driver involved in the catastrophic incident apparently fled the scene. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the fatal accident in San Clemente.
