1 Killed, 3 Seriously Injured in Joshua Tree Crash on Highway 62 Near Sunview
JOSHUA TREE, CA (March 13, 2023) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured several others on Highway 62 near Sunview Avenue in Joshua Tree.
According to the KESQ News and Z1077fm, the tragic wreck took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the accident on March 11 at around 12:20 p.m.
The incident began when a Nissan Rogue was stopped on the right shoulder of eastbound Highway 62 near Sunview Road in Joshua Tree. A Ford F-250 was traveling in the same direction at the time.
The Nissan then made a left turn from the shoulder of the road in front of the Ford. The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the Ford collided with the Rogue.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters soon arrived and pronounced the female driver of the Nissan dead at the scene. Her passenger sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the patient to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. The two occupants of the F-250 pickup survived the incident with moderate injuries.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 62 to shut down near Sunview for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Joshua Tree crash is still under investigation.
