Fleeing Driver Strikes, Kills Pedestrian at Cajalco and Decker Road
Mead Valley, CA (March 31, 2022) – Police arrested 26-year-old Juan Diego in relation to a fatal accident that occurred in the area of Cajalco and Decker Road.
On March 27, Sunday, Diego struck a male pedestrian at the intersection in Mead Valley. The Riverside County News Source reported a deputy had been following Diego before the collision happened. Officers from the Perris Sheriff’s Station spotted the driver showing signs of intoxication. A deputy then tailed Diego in anticipation of making a traffic stop.
Before the K-9 deputy was able to apprehend Diego, the suspect struck 25-year-old Miracle Jackson at the intersection in Cajalco and Decker. The crash instantly killed the pedestrian.
The catastrophic incident took place at about 3:47 p.m.
According to the article published online, Juan Diego received treatment for minor injuries at Riverside University Health System. The following day, officers arrested the driver on suspicion of murder with malice; second-degree murder; gross vehicular manslaughter; two counts of DUI resulting in great bodily injuries; driving without a license; driving while suspended for a prior DUI, and other charges.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
