Julio Lopez, 40, Killed in Turlock Crash on Highway 99 at Fulkerth
TURLOCK, CA (August 2, 2021) – Julio Lopez was killed after a car crash on Highway 99 in Turlock.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 40-year-old Turlock man as the victim of the collision which occurred last week on Friday.
The incident happened when Julio Lopez was driving an SUV north in the middle lane on Highway 99 at Fulkerth Road in Turlock. At the same time, a 2015 Toyota was traveling in the slow lane.
The driver of the Toyota, Anthony Silva, then tried to make a lane change into the fast lane at high speeds. In the process, the right front of the Toyota then slammed into the rear of the SUV.
Multiple Cars Collide
CHP said the SUV went off the road and plunged down a dirt embankment toward the Fulkerth Road northbound on-ramp. The car rolled over and ultimately collided with a 2007 Dodge driven by 31-year-old Benjamin Rojas.
Julio Lopez ended up ejected from his vehicle as a result of the Turlock crash and landed on the on-ramp. Paramedics rushed him to the Doctors Medical Center, where he died.
The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident took place on July 30 at around 3 p.m. CHP added that Anthony Silva, Banjamin Rojas and the passenger in the Toyota, 23-year-old Alexis Clements, did not sustain any wound following the wreck.
Meanwhile, the tragic Turlock crash is still under investigation.
