Kapri Coleman, 27, Suspect in Deadly Traffic Collision on Interstate 15 Wednesday
Escondido, CA (July 15, 2021) – Police arrested 27-year-old Kapri Coleman in relation with a fatal car crash that occurred on Interstate 15, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
On July 14, Wednesday, Kapri Coleman was behind the wheel of a 2009 Hyundai Genesis traveling north on the freeway. Due to the alleged intoxication of the driver, he allowed the car to careen away from the roadway. The vehicle crashed down a steep embankment along the freeway just north of Gopher Canyon Road.
Officials said the fully occupied car ended up approximately 150 feet down the hillside.
When emergency crews arrived at the site, they found a juvenile lifeless. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the 5-year-old girl but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died. Authorities added a dog also died in the collision.
3 Hospitalized After Car Crash in Escondido, July 14
Authorities added Kapri Coleman, and his two other passengers sustained injuries as a result of the incident. Ambulances rushed all three patients to hospitals for treatment.
According to the article published online, Kapri Coleman, the mother of the juvenile passengers, was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Police then arrested the woman on suspicion of four felonies, including gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI resulting in death and child cruelty.
Further investigation on the fatal car crash is underway.
