Karen Camacho, 30, ID’d as Suspect in Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 15, 2021) – Karen Camacho was critically injured after a hit-and-run crash at Hooper Avenue and 48th Place in Los Angeles.
Police confirmed that the 30-year old woman turned herself in following the collision which took place on Thursday morning.
The incident began when Karen Camacho made an unsafe left turn onto eastbound 48th Place in South Los Angeles. At the same time, a 55-year-old man was riding a scooter north on Hooper Avenue.
Police said in the process, Karen Camacho struck the rider with her Honda Civic in the intersection. The victim ended up thrown off his scooter onto the ground.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim left suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Man, 55, Hit by Car
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital and listed him in critical condition. Officers did not disclose the name of the wounded party.
The CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the accident on October 14 shortly before 10:40 a.m. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Karen Camacho did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
She surrendered with her lawyer to the LAPD Central Community Police Station on Friday. Officers placed Karen Camacho under arrest on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
