Kathy Meier Charged With Manslaughter After East Sacramento Fatal Crash
EAST SACRAMENTO, CA (January 25, 2022) – Officers filed manslaughter charges against Kathy Meier after a fatal crash in East Sacramento.
Prosecutors identified the woman as the driver who killed a pedestrian near the Phoebe A. Hearst Elementary School last month.
The incident began when Kathy Anne Meier was driving a car which collided with another vehicle in East Sacramento. Police said one of them ran a red light and caused the wreck.
Guadalupe Jimenez, 45, Hit and Killed by Car
Kathy Meier then struck a 45-year-old Elk Grove woman crossing the intersection of 60th Street and Folsom Boulevard. The victim ended up pinned underneath the car as a result of the collision.
Paramedics then rushed Guadalupe Jimenez to a hospital, where she died. The Sacramento Bee and KCRA News wrote that the accident took place on January 13 shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, officials charged Kathy Meier with vehicular manslaughter following the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
