2 Killed, 1 Injured in Kings County Crash on Jersey Avenue Near Tachi Palace
KINGS COUNTY, CA (July 2, 2022) – A DUI crash killed two people and injured one person on Jersey Avenue outside the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Kings County.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:45 p.m. near Lemoore.
The incident happened on July 1 when a 2020 Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Jersey Avenue in Kings County.
At the same time, a 2006 Nissan Quest minivan was heading north leaving the Tachi Palace Casino Resort. For an unknown reason, the van entered the roadway and pulled into the path of the Toyota.
The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the Corolla slammed into the driver’s side of the Nissan. The two collided west of 17th Avenue.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Paramedics pronounced the 63-year-old Fresno man driving the Quest and his passenger, a 52-year-old Fresno man, dead at the scene.
The male motorist in the Toyota sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. An air ambulance took him to the Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the sedan was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car. They soon arrested him for DUI.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Officers forced a stretch of Jersey Avenue to shut down for a time following the crash.
The fatal Kings County incident is still under investigation.
