Boats Detaches From Trailer, Hits Car Near Honey Springs Road
Jamul, CA (February 8, 2022) – Kirk Nichols, the interim San Diego Harbor Police Chief, sustained injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route 94.
The FOX5 News reported Kirk was a passenger in a 2016 Fiat 500 driven by his wife, 49-year-old Jennifer Nichols. Preliminary investigation revealed the horrible crash happened when a boat trailer became detached from the back of a 2000 Mazda B300 pickup truck traveling on Honey Springs Road.
Wife Killed, Husband Injured in Jamul Car Crash on SR-94
Our sources indicated the boat fell off the trailer and slid across the roadway. The boat ended up colliding into the Fiat traveling east on SR-94. Due to the force from the impact, Jennifer suffered serious injuries. Responding paramedics rushed the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Officials said Jennifer Nichols sadly succumbed to her injuries and died Saturday evening; approximately three hours after the accident.
Meanwhile, Kirk sustained injuries of unknown extent as a result of the crash. The condition at this time of the interim San Diego Harbor Police Chief remained undisclosed.
Detectives continue to work to determine several unclear factors surrounding the unfortunate event.
