Pedestrian Killed in Knightsen Crash on Byron Highway
KNIGHTSEN, CA (September 4, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a crash on Byron Highway in the Knightsen area of Contra Costa County.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the tragic accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the incident at about 11:14 p.m. near Brentwood.
According to CHP, a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Knightsen. The driver hit the victim at 8321 Byron Highway.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Mountain View Drive. They found the person lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then confirmed that the victim died. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the person. Officers forced a stretch of Byron Highway to shut down for a time following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Knightsen pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
