Krystal Ramos, 36, ID’d as Suspect in Garden Grove DUI Crash
GARDEN GROVE, CA (December 6, 2022) – Authorities detained Krystal Ramos after a DUI crash on the 22 Freeway in Garden Grove.
Police determined that the 36-year-old woman was under the influence when the wreck took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Krystal Amy Ramos was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe west on the 22 Freeway near Euclid Street in Garden Grove.
At the same time, a California Highway Patrol Officer pulled over in the area to help a vehicle with mechanical problems. Police said Krystal Ramos veered off the road and then onto the shoulder.
In the process, her SUV slammed into the back of the patrol car and the disabled vehicle. The CHP officer ended up trapped inside the unit as a result of the collision.
CHP Officer Badly Injured in Wreck
The Orange County Register and KTLA News wrote that the accident occurred on December 4 at around 8:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene and freed the six-year veteran from the wreckage.
The victim sustained moderate injuries following the incident. Paramedics rushed him to the University of California, Irvine Medical Center for treatment.
The reports did not disclose the name of the wounded officer and his condition at this time. Medical personnel took Krystal Ramos to the Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center following the crash.
The two passengers of the suspect, a girl and a boy, ended up unharmed. Meanwhile, police soon arrested and booked Krystal Ramos on suspicion of felony DUI and child endangerment.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 22 Freeway to shut down after the wreck. The Garden Grove DUI crash is still under investigation.
