Pedestrian Killed in La Jolla Crash on Torrey Pines Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 14, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla.
According to an article published by the San Diego Union-Tribune, the tragic accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the collision shortly after 6 p.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was walking south across Torrey Pines Road in the La Jolla neighborhood. At the same time, a vehicle was going east in the right lane of the road.
Man, 70, Hit by Vehicle
San Diego police said for an unknown reason, the driver then struck the victim. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, just east of La Jolla Parkway.
They found the 70-year-old man lying on the ground as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed him to a hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old woman driving the car stopped after hitting the victim.
Police forced a stretch of Torrey Pines Road to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the fatal La Jolla pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
