1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Las Flores DUI Crash on Antonio Parkway
LAS FLORES, CA (April 2, 2023) – A DUI crash killed a pedestrian and seriously injured two others near Antonio Parkway and Oaktree in Las Flores.
According to The Orange County Register and ABC 7 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the collision on April 2 at around 4:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian and a woman were walking with their child in a stroller along Antonio Parkway, south of Oaktree, in Las Flores. They were on a sidewalk.
At the same time, a 2017 Hyundai Sonata was going north on Antonio. The car veered off the roadway, traveled a few hundred feet along the sidewalk and struck the family.
Driver Hits Family, Kills Infant
The three victims sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. The California Highway Patrol identified them as a 34-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman and their 11-month-old infant.
Paramedics rushed the three Rancho Santa Margarita residents to the hospital, where the baby died. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the man driving the Hyundai was under the influence of drugs when he hit the family. They soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced a stretch of Antonio Parkway to shut down for a time following the DUI incident. The fatal Las Flores crash is still under investigation.
