DUI Hit-and-Run Suspect in Visalia Crash ID’d as Leonel Hernandez Alacon, 20
VISALIA, CA (April 5, 2021) – Authorities detained Leonel Hernandez Alacon after a DUI hit-and-run crash that injured a mother and her baby in Visalia.
Police determined that the 20-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred on Sunday evening.
The incident began when Leonel Hernandez Alacon was driving a white Nissan Altima east on Walnut Avenue near Linwood Street in Visalia.
At the same time, a woman and her one-year-old child in a stroller was on the sidewalk. Police said the Nissan then left the road, jumped onto the sidewalk, and struck the victims.

Your Central Valley and ABC 30 News reported the collision on April 4 at around 7:30 p.m. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene.
Medical personnel treated the woman and her toddler for minor complaints of pain that they sustained as a result of the crash. Their names and condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Leonel Alacon did not stop to render aid and fled the area. They found the Altima abandoned nearby and saw Alacon running away.
Authorities soon caught and detained him without incident. They booked him at the Tulare County Pre-Trial for DUI, hit-and-run, and child endangerment.
The suspect did not have a license when the Visalia collision happened.
