Man Killed in Logan Heights Hit-and-Run Crash on Franklin Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 3, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian on Franklin Avenue in Logan Heights.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the tragic accident took place early Monday. Officers reported the collision shortly after 3:15 a.m.
San Diego police said the incident happened when a male pedestrian was walking on Franklin Avenue in the Logan Heights neighborhood.
Driver Hits Man, Flees Scene
For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him south of Commercial Street. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the man left lying on the ground.
The victim sustained a serious head trauma as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital, where he soon died.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
Officers forced a stretch of Franklin Avenue to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the fatal Logan Heights hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
