Man, 65, Seriously Injured in Lompoc Hit-and-Run on East Pine Avenue
LOMPOC, CA (October 20, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on Pine Avenue in Lompoc.
According to The Santa Maria Times and Noozhawk, the accident took place on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the collision shortly before 7 p.m.
The incident happened on October 19 when a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in Lompoc. Police said the driver hit him in the 100 block of East Pine Avenue.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the 65-year-old man left lying on the ground. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle
An air ambulance took the victim to an area hospital and listed him serious condition. The reports did disclose the name of the wounded patient.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man. He turned northbound on North H Street and fled the area.
Officers soon located the vehicle and the suspect at a local motel. They arrested and booked him into jail on suspicion of fleeing the scene of an injury traffic collision, a felony.
Officials forced a stretch of Pine Avenue to shut down following the collision. The Lompoc hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 805-736-2341.
