1 Killed, 1 Injured in Long Beach Pedestrian Crash at Los Coyotes and Carson
LONG BEACH, CA (December 31, 2021) – A pedestrian crash killed one person and injured another at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Carson Street in Long Beach.
According to an article published by My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Monday morning. Officers reported the collision on December 27 at about 7:20 a.m.
The incident happened when two men were walking south on Carson Street at Los Coyotes Diagonal in Long Beach. For an unknown reason, a 2020 Hyundai Sonata struck them.
Long Beach police said the driver hit the pedestrians in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
2 Men Hit by Car
One of the victims, an 83-year-old man, sustained serious injuries to his chest as a result of the collision. The other patient, a 73-year-old man, survived with minor injuries.
Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital, where the older patient died. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 75-year-old Long Beach resident driving the Hyundai stopped after hitting the victims. The driver stayed at the site and cooperated with the officers.
Police forced the area of Los Coyotes and Carson to shut down for a time following the collision. The cause of the fatal Long Beach pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
