Pedestrian, 16, Killed in Long Beach DUI Crash at Los Coyotes and Deborah
LONG BEACH, CA (September 5, 2021) – A DUI crash killed a teen pedestrian at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Deborah Street in Long Beach.
According to The Press Telegram and KTLA News, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday night. Officers reported the collision on September 4 at about 9:10 p.m.
The incident began when a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker was going south on Los Coyotes Diagonal, approaching Deborah Street. At the same time, a 16-year-old boy was crossing the intersection.
Teenage Boy Hit by Car
Long Beach police said in the process, the SUV struck the teenage pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found him lying on the ground.
Medical personnel pronounced the Long Beach teen dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police determined that the man driving the Chevrolet was under the influence when he hit the boy.
They soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Officers forced the area of Los Coyotes and Deborah to shut down for hours following the collision.
