Lorenzo Castillo, 69, Killed in San Martin Crash at Middle Avenue and Center Avenue
SAN MARTIN, CA (May 16, 2022) – A car crash killed Lorenzo Castillo at Middle Avenue and Center Avenue in San Martin.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 69-year-old San Martin man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Lorenzo Castillo was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 east on East Middle Avenue, approaching Center Avenue, in San Martin.
At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu was going south on Center. The driver of the Chevrolet, 20-year-old John Padilla Marquez, failed to stop at the stop sign for an unknown reason.
4 Injured in Wreck
CHP said the San Jose man then slammed into the pickup truck. The Mercury News and The Morgan Hills Times wrote that the accident occurred on May 16 at about 12:52 p.m.
Lorenzo Castillo and his two female passengers ended up ejected from their car as a result of the crash. He soon died at the scene.
The other two occupants of the Ford, a 57-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl, John Marquez and his 21-year-old passenger sustained minor to major injuries.
Paramedics rushed all four patients to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP believed that the motorist who ran the stop sign was under the influence when he hit the victims.
