Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at Leffingwell Road and Corley Drive
Whittier, CA (July 24, 2022) – Lorraine Naranjo, a 53-year-old woman, died following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred in the area of Leffingwell Road and Corley Drive.
The Whittier Daily News reported Naranjo, of Whittier, attempted to Leffingwell at the intersection with Corley. While in the middle of the roadway, a passing white Mercedes struck the woman. After the collision, the driver left the victim lying on the ground.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Whittier
Shortly after 10:15 p.m., emergency crews arrived near the block of Leffingwell Road in unincorporated South Whittier. Responding paramedics immediately rendered aid to the pedestrian. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the woman sadly succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased as Lorraine Naranjo.
According to the article published online, the driver of the Mercedes drove away. Officer later found the car ditched about two miles from the crash site. Detectives continue to gather information to identify and locate the hit-and-run suspect.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
