
Luis Leonides DUI hit-and-run crash Corona
DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Corona Fatal Crash ID’d as Luis Alberto Leonides, 22
CORONA, CA (April 4, 2021) – Authorities detained Luis Leonides after a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash along the 91 Freeway in Corona.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 22-year-old Santa Ana man was under the influence when the wreck occurred early Sunday.
The incident happened when Luis Alberto Leonides stalled his Nissan in the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway, just west of Green River Road, in Corona.
At the same time, a Camaro was traveling at about 67 mph east on the freeway. CHP said the driver of the Camaro failed to see the Nissan and then slammed into the car.
Breann Alizaga, 21, Killed in Collision on 91 Freeway
Luis Leonides pulled his female passenger from the vehicle as a result of the collision and placed her on the ground. He ultimately fled the area.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Deputies identified her as 21-year-old Anaheim resident Breann Alizaga.
Meanwhile, Leonides later returned to the crash site. Authorities soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI, as well as hit-and-run.
Officers also charged the motorist in the Camaro with DUI. The Orange County Register and My News LA reported the tragic Corona accident on April 4 shortly before 2:30 a.m.
