1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Madera County Crash Near Road 27 and Avenue 17
MADERA COUNTY, CA (February 9, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and seriously injured two others near Road 27 and Avenue 17 in Madera County.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident took place on Wednesday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:15 p.m.
The incident began when a Chrysler 300 was going north on Road 27 near Avenue 17 in Madera County. At the same time, a black Nissan Rogue was traveling south.
The Chrysler 300 then abruptly made a left turn onto westbound Avenue 17. The Nissan veered to avoid collision and spun out of control in the process.
DUI Factor in Wreck
The California Highway Patrol said the Rogue collided head-on with a Ford F-350 that was pulling a trailer on northbound Road 27. The 25-year-old woman driving the Nissan died at the scene.
A man in the right front seat of the Rogue and a 12-year-old girl sitting in the back sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Am air ambulance took the adult to the Community Regional Medical Center. A ground ambulance rushed the child to the Valley Children’s Healthcare for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Chrysler was under the influence of drugs when the wreck occurred.
They arrested him on suspicion of DUI. Officers the area of Road 27 and Avenue 17 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The fatal Madera County crash is still under investigation.
