1 Killed, 1 Critical After Fiery Truck Crash at Avenue 6 and Highway 145 Thursday
Madera, CA (August 5, 2021) – One person died and another suffered injuries following a big rig accident in the area of Avenue 6 and Highway 145 Thursday evening.
The ABC30 News reported the truck collided with a minivan at the Madera intersection. Preliminary investigation revealed the big rig was heading south on the highway when it broadsided the minivan. The force from the impact caused the minivan to catch fire.
Deadly Big Rig Accident in Madera, August 5
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location and found the driver of the minivan unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Authorities added a passenger in the minivan sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident. A helicopter arrived at the site and transported the patient to Community Regional Medical Center. Additional details on the patient have not been revealed thus far.
Meanwhile, the operator of the big rig reportedly complained of pain. A ground ambulance transferred the patient to the hospital for treatment.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate the precise cause of the fatal big rig accident in Madera.
