
Couple, Son Dies in Collision at Orange and Elm Avenue
Modesto, CA (March 8, 2023) – Maria Cruz Alvarez, and Armando Vega both suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Orange and Elm Avenue.
On March 6, Monday, two cars collided at the intersection in Modesto. The Modesto Bee News reported 58-year-old Alvarez and 56-year-old Vega were traveling with their 26-year-old heading south on Elm. When the family’s Dodge SUV entered the crossing, a Ram pickup drove into their path. Our sources indicated the front of the Dodge slammed into the left side of the Ram. Due to the force from the impact, both cars careened off the roadway and overturned onto their left side.
Deadly Car Accident in Modesto
Emergency crews later arrived and immediately rendered aid to all the occupants in the wrecked vehicles. Shortly after the crash, authorities sadly confirmed all three passengers in the Dodge sadly died. Authorities later identified the couple killed in the collision as Maria Cruz Alvarez, and Armando Vega; and their son Jesus Vega-Cruz.
Meanwhile, the occupants in the Ram were reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Ram likely ran the stop sign at the intersection, and caused the accident. However, detectives said they continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the deadly crash that happened at Orange and Elm Avenue in Modesto.
