Mario Morales, 22, Killed in Koreatown Hit-and-Run Crash at Western and Olympic
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 5, 2022) – Mario Morales was killed after a hit-and-run crash at Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown.
Police identified the 22-year-old Los Angeles man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place early Saturday.
The incident happened when Mario Ramos Morales was riding an e-scooter east on Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown neighborhood.
At the same time, a blue Dodge Caravan was traveling north on Western Avenue. Los Angeles police said for an unknown reason, the Dodge then struck the rider in the intersection.
Driver Hits E-Scooter Rider, Flees Scene
Mario Morales became ejected from the scooter and landed on the road as a result of the collision. Another vehicle going south on Western approached and ran him over.
The car dragged the man about 60 feet, where he came to a rest in front of a bus stop. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and soon pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 39-year-old Los Angeles man driving the minivan stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man. The second driver continued and fled the area.
Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who left Mario Morales in the roadway. The KTLA News and NBC Los Angeles wrote that the accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m.
