Bicycle Rider Killed in Martinez Accident Arnold Drive Near Sundance Place
MARTINEZ, CA (April 8, 2021) – A bicycle rider was killed after an accident along Arnold Drive in Martinez on Thursday morning.
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the tragic incident occurred on April 8. Officers reported the crash at around 8 am.
Police said a vehicle collided with a male bicycle rider in the 1800 block of Arnold Drive in Martinez. The driver hit him for an unknown reason near Sundance Place.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then found the man lying on the ground. He suffered major injuries as a result of the collision.
Man Riding Bike Collides With Vehicle
Medical personnel rushed him to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he died. The name of the deceased bicyclist remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist stopped after hitting the cyclist. The driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the authorities.
Officials forced Arnold Drive to shut down for a time following the Martinez collision. The cause of the fatal bicycle accident is still under investigation.
