Bicycle Rider Killed in Hit-and-run Crash on Hwy 395

ADELANTO, Calif. (Aug. 9, 2022) — Marty Sparling, 59, of Adelanto, died in an Adelanto Hit-and-run bicycle accident Saturday on Highway 395 at Cactus Road.
The deadly crash occurred about 10:21 p.m. on August 6th, according to the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Dept. and Victor Valley News. Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to a hospital where he later died.
The motorist involved reportedly left behind a California license plate at the crash scene, enabling authorities to confirm the vehicle as a as a 2008 Lincoln Navigator and its driver as Erika Romero-Aguilar, 38, of Adelanto. The vehicle was located at the Pilot Truck Stop on Highway 395 and Joshua Street in Hesperia.
Police continue to look for the suspected hit-and-run motorist.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) continue to work on the case and released a photo of the suspect.
