Matthew Zink, 58, Killed in Chatsworth Hit-and-Run Near Lurline and Plummer

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 5, 2022) – Matthew Zink was killed after a hit-and-run crash near Lurline Avenue and Plummer Street in Chatsworth.

Family members identified the 58-year-old Canoga Park man as one of the victims in the fatal collision which took place on Tuesday.

The incident happened when Matthew Zink and a pregnant woman were riding their bicycles west on Plummer Street in Chatsworth. A red Toyota Tacoma was traveling in the same direction at the time.

Los Angeles police said for an unknown reason, the pickup truck hit the bicyclists. The car struck them near the intersection with Lurline Avenue.

Driver Hits Bicyclists, Flees Scene

The Daily News and FOX 11 News wrote that the accident occurred on January 4 shortly before 7:15 p.m. Both Matthew Zink and the pregnant woman died at the scene.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the man driving the Toyota did not stop to render aid and fled the area. He came to a stop after he plowed into a wall near the intersection of Knapp and Desoto.

Officers took the driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. They soon arrested him in connection with the hit-and-run that killed Matthew Zink .
