Driver Killed, Meilani Abernath Injured in Traffic Collision on Big Pines Highway Monday
Antelope Valley, CA (April 20, 2021) – A car accident resulted in injuries to 33-year-old Meilani Abernath Monday evening on Big Pines Highway.
The Antelope Valley Times reported a 29-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2009 Ford traveling west on Big Pines Highway. When the vehicle approached the area near Largo Vista Road, the driver apparently made an unsafe turning movement.
Our sources indicted the Ford then veered off the roadway and plowed through a barbwire fence. When emergency crews arrived at the site, they found the vehicle rolled down the embankment.
Deadly Car Crash in Antelope Valley, April 19
According to the article published online, a passenger in the vehicle suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel arrived at the site shortly after 7:35 p.m. and rendered aid to the victim. An ambulance later transported the patient, Meilani Abernath, to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
Officials added the driver sadly died as a result of the collision.
At the moment, detectives assigned the case continue to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the catastrophic incident. Further investigation on the fatal car crash in Antelope Valley is ongoing.
