Melvin Pryor, 57, Killed in Snelling Crash on Merced Falls Road
SNELLING, CA (June 13, 2022) – Melvin Pryor was killed after a DUI crash on Merced Falls Road near Snelling.
The coroner’s office identified the 57-year-old man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place late last month.
The incident happened when Melvin Pryor was riding a 2000 custom motorcycle west on Merced Falls Road near Snelling. At the same time, a 2015 Jeep Cherokee was going east.
The California Highway Patrol said the car then tried to make a left turn into a private driveway. In the process, the Jeep went directly into the path of the motorcyclist.
DUI Driver Hits Motorcyclist Head-On
The Cherokee slammed head-on into the rider, east of Highway 59. Melvin Pryor ended up trapped beneath the car as a result of the crash.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and freed the victim from the wreckage. He sustained major injuries following the collision.
An air ambulance took the patient to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he died. The Merced Sun Star wrote that the accident occurred on May 31 at about 8:25 p.m.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Jeep was under the influence of narcotics when he hit the motorcyclist. They soon arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI causing bodily injury
The Snelling crash is still under investigation.
