2 Killed in Merced County Crash on Highway 33 Near Marshall Road
MERCED COUNTY, CA (January 12, 2022) – A crash killed two motorcycle riders on Highway 33 near Marshall Road in Merced County.

The incident began when two people were riding a motorcycle south on Highway 33 near Marshall Road in Merced County. For an unknown reason, they collided with the back of a GMC truck.
Both riders ended up ejected from the bike due to the impact of the collision. A big rig hauling a white tractor-trailer approached and ran over the motorcycle.
Big Rig Hits Motorcycle, Leaves Scene
The California Highway Patrol said the semi-truck possibly hit the victims in the roadway. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel confirmed that the motorcycle riders, a man and a woman, died as a result of the collision. Their names have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the big rig failed to stop to help and fled the area. They added that foggy conditions played a role in the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of Highway 33 to shut down near Marshall following the wreck. The fatal Merced County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
