Driver Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 99 Near V Street Wednesday
Merced, CA (June 17, 2021) – At least one person died following a car and truck accident on Highway 99 Wednesday evening, according to Your Central Valley.
Officials said a passenger vehicle slammed for an unknown reason into the back of a big rig while traveling on the freeway. The catastrophic incident took place south of V Street near a road construction area.
Deadly Car Accident in Merced, June 16
Shortly after 11 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. Paramedics found a person trapped in the disabled car. Responding rescue teams reportedly freed the driver, then performed CPR to the man. Sadly, the motorist succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the truck operator appeared unharmed after the incident.
Detectives continue to investigate at this time the precise cause of the deadly car accident in Merced.
