Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on State Route Highway 140 Sunday
Merced, CA (August 16, 2021) – A car crash that occurred on State Route Highway 140 resulted in injuries, the Merced Golden Wire News reported.
On August 15, Sunday, an alleged drunk driver slammed into the back of a vehicle stopped on the highway near Kibby Road. The force from the impact pushed the rear-ended vehicle, leading to a chain-reaction collision.
Officials said the incident involved as many as six automobiles.
Shortly after 11:35 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the crash site. First responders found one vehicle engulfed in flames. According to the article published online, firefighters worked extensively to pull out all parties trapped in the wreckage.
Authorities later confirmed the several innocent motorists sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. Pending confirmation, the names of the victims remained undisclosed.

Meanwhile, officers mentioned the driver who triggered the mishap was flown to a Modesto hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Investigators mentioned the suspect showed signs of intoxication at the time of the incident.
