Pedestrian Injured in Merced Hit-and-Run on Parsons Avenue Near School

MERCED, CA (October 7, 2021) – A pedestrian was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Parsons Avenue near a school in Merced.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Thursday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the incident shortly before 1:30 p.m.

A vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in the city of Merced. The driver hit the victim in the 3200 block of North Parsons Avenue near Teak Avenue.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Donn B Chenoweth Elementary. They found the person hurt as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel then provided treatment to the patient for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of North Parsons Avenue to close following the collision.

The cause of the Merced hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
