Michael Saffold Killed in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Accident

Vehicle Strikes, Kills Man Between Patterson and Fairview Avenue

Santa Barbara, CA (November 17, 2022) – Michael Saffold, a 29-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Highway 101 Friday morning.

The KSBY News reported Saffold attempted to cross the highway in the area between the Patterson and Fairview Avenue. While in the middle of the roadway, a passing vehicle struck the male pedestrian. The force from the impact resulted life-threatening injuries to Saffold.

Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara

Shortly after 1:50 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the crash site. Responding paramedics performed CPR to the victim. Sadly, the man succumbed to his trauma and passed away at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau later identified the deceased as Michael Saffold, of Goleta.

Detectives handling the case stayed at the scene the whole morning. They continue to work at this time to investigate liability in the deadly pedestrian accident that happened on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara.
