Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Midway District Crash on Midway Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2023) – A crash seriously injured a pedestrian on Midway Drive in the Midway District of San Diego.
According to an article published by the ABC 10 News, the accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the collision on May 15 at around 9:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a female pedestrian was walking near the 3500 block of Midway Drive in Midway District. A 2019 Dodge approached and then struck her.
San Diego police said the attention of the 58-year-old man driving the car became drawn to a sign for the Broken Yolk restaurant prior to the accident.
Woman, 79, Hit by Car
As the driver directed his sight back to the road, he stepped on the brakes and swerved left. In the process, he hit the 79-year-old woman in the roadway.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the victim who sustained major injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of a pelvic fracture and laceration to the head. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and her condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the motorist was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the collision occurred. Officers forced a stretch of Midway Drive to shut down following the incident.
The cause of the Midway District pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
