Miguel Zapien, 20, Suspect in Deadly Collision at McHenry and Standiford Avenue Sunday
Modesto, CA (September 20, 2021) – Police arrested 20-year-old Miguel Zapien in relation with a deadly car crash that occurred in the area of McHenry and Standiford Avenue.
According to ABC10 News, Miguel Zapien was driving a 2004 black Silverado truck traveling in the streets of Modesto Sunday evening. Officials said the Silverado drove through the intersection of McHenry and Standiford and hit a 2022 black Hyundai IONIQ. The force from the impact caused the Hyundai to veer into the opposite lanes; and slam into a 2009 black Ford F-150.

Officials confirmed the driver of the Hyundai died as a result of the collision. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford escaped death with only minor injuries.
The article published online mentioned investigators later determined Miguel Zapien was intoxicated when the crash happened. Police then arrested the man on felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
