Motorcyclist Killed in Mill Valley Crash on Highway 101 Near Blithedale Avenue
MILL VALLEY, CA (September 9, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash on Highway 101 near Blithedale Avenue in Mill Valley.
According to an article published by the Marin Independent Journal, the tragic accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:45 a.m.
The incident happened when for an unknown reason the debris fell out of the bed of a pickup truck. The debris landed on northbound Highway 101 at the crest of Alto Hill in Mill Valley.
The pickup truck continued driving while a Mercedes SUV braked to avoid hitting the debris. A Jeep traveling behind it tried to stop, veered to the right, but collided with the Mercedes.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle rider then became involved in the collision. The rider ended up thrown off the bike, north of the East Blithedale Avenue off-ramp. as a result of the wreck.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed him to the MarinHealth Medical Center in Greenbrae, where he died.
The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the report did not mention if the other drivers sustained injuries following the collision.
CHP forced a lane on northbound Highway 101 to shut down after the crash. The cause of the fatal Mill Valley accident is still under investigation.
