Passengers Killed in Collision Near San Joaquin River Sunday
Modesto, CA (February 6, 2022) – Two people died following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred on Highway 132 early Sunday morning.
The Modesto Bee News reported a 2011 GMC pickup drifted off the westbound side of the freeway in Modesto. Officials mentioned the traffic accident took place just east of the San Joaquin River.
According to the article published online, the GMC struck a series of trees along SR-132 before coming to a rest.
Emergency crews arrived at the location shortly after 2:30 a.m. Responding paramedics reportedly found two adult male passengers unconscious in the GMC. Despite life-saving measures, both parties sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. Authorities briefly identified the deceased victims as a 23-year-old Hayward resident; and a 36-year-old San Jose resident.

Meanwhile, our sources indicated the driver of the GMC fled the scene before police arrived. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine several unclear factors surrounding the fatal crash on Highway 132 in Modesto.
