Moises Rivera Luna, 31, ID’d as Suspect in Rosemead Fatal DUI Crash
ROSEMEAD, CA (February 6, 2022) – Authorities detained Moises Rivera Luna after a fatal DUI crash on the 10 Freeway in Rosemead.
The California Highway Patrol determined the 31-year-old Rosemead man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Moises Rivera Luna was driving a 2016 Ford Mustang east on the 10 Freeway in Rosemead. At the same time, a vehicle became disabled for an unknown reason in the No. 3 lane.
CHP said Moises Rivera Luna then hit a male driver standing outside of the stalled car. The impact pushed the victim vehicle into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.
1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Crash
In the process, the two collided west of Walnut Grove Avenue. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that the pedestrian died as a result of the incident.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 48-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries due to the impact of the collision. Medical personnel took him to the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for treatment.
The name of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP added that the the driver of the Mustang survived with minor wounds.
Officials arrested Moises Rivera Luna for DUI following the crash. The CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the the accident occurred at about 3:40 a.m.
The Rosemead DUI crash is still under investigation.
