1 Killed in Moorpark Crash Near Highway 118 and Balcom Canyon Road
MOORPARK, CA (May 4, 2021) – A crash killed at least one person near Highway 118 and Balcom Canyon Road in Moorpark.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the tragic accident occurred late Tuesday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:26 p.m. near Wailing Siren Ranch Drive.
CHP said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason on eastbound Highway 118, known as East Los Angeles Avenue. They crashed near Balcom Canyon Road in Moorpark.
Car vs Ambulance in Moorpark
A video report posted online by 2366 Media described the vehicles as an AMR ambulance and an early 2000s Saturn. An occupant in the Saturn ended up pinned as a result of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the trapped party dead at the scene. The name of the deceased individual has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the impact apparently injured at least one person riding the ambulance at the time. Officials forced the roadway to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Moorpark crash is still under investigation.
