Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision at Alfred Harrell Highway and Highway 178
Bakersfield, CA (June 4, 2022) – Morgan Lafaye Barber, a 56-year-old woman, died following a traffic crash that occurred in the area of Alfred Harrell Highway and Highway 178.
The KGET News published and article online reporting an accident involving two vehicles. Preliminary investigation revealed Barber was driving a car heading south on Alfred Harrell Highway. The collision happened when the woman drove through the intersection at about the same time as another motorist. Officials said Barber crashed into a car heading west on Highway 178.
Shortly after 8:41 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the driver of the only car found at the scene. Despite life-saving measures performed on the victim, the female driver sadly passed away. Authorities later identified the deceased as Morgan Lafaye Barber, of Bakersfield.
Meanwhile, the other motorist involved in the unfortunate event apparently fled the scene. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the car accident at Alfred Harrell Highway and Highway 178 in Bakersfield.
