Major Injury Collision on 80 Freeway Tuesday
North Highlands, CA (September 28, 2021) – A traffic accident involving a bicycle rider occurred Tuesday morning on the Interstate 80 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol group reported.
Our sources indicated a vehicle struck the bicyclist in the westbound onramp of the freeway at the Watt Avenue connecting road. The collision took place shortly before 12 noon.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found a gray Ford Escape with front-end damage.

Medical personnel at the scene immediately rendered aid to the injured parties. According to the CHP log, the bicyclist sustained major trauma as a result of the wreck. An ambulance later responded, and transported the patient to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate exactly how and why the bicycle accident in North Highlands happened.
